Final Jackpot edition by Parker Avrile Literature Fiction eBooks

A gay romantic suspense novella with three million dollars up for grabs...
Nobody stumbles into this two-bit lakefront casino by accident. Chris knows there's something hinky going on from the moment Dillon waltzes into the place wearing his form-fitting three-hundred-dollar jeans. Dillon's blazing hot, but those magic fingers keep triggering the machines to spit out jackpots.
It's Chris's job to put guys like Dillon in prison. That's the reason Chris needs to go undercover as a hookup who meets Dillon on a secluded beach.
Or at least Chris tells himself that's the reason.
"Final Jackpot" is an 18,000-word male/male contemporary romantic suspense novella. This steamy standalone comes complete with a happily ever after and NO cliffhanger. Previously published as "Beach Night." This story is exactly the same as the original. Only the cover and title have been changed.

I was wondering how I was able to get a book from this author for free, even though sometimes luck just runs that way. But when I got about halfway in, I knew something was wrong. The writing often seemed a bit juvenile, and there were simple editing mistakes like missing, incorrect or just strangely placed words. My fave was when Dillon's touch sent "sparkles running down Chris' spine." Sparkles? Is his last name Cullen? I finally figured out the problem: I had this writer mixed up with someone else. There is no character development at all, and I'm not sure it would've helped anyway when both MCs are pretending to be someone they're not. But it also doesn't help when you don't like one of the MCs. Chris was a decent guy, but he didn't come off as bright as Ms. Avrile wanted him to. He kept trying so hard to be the superhero, when in reality (IMHO) he probably would not have survived to the end. Everything he did was dangerous and stupid, but of course Ms. Avrile had it all work out in the end. Ends HFN at 79%.
SN: In the Amazon synopsis it states that this is the exact same story as "Beach Night", just with a new title and cover. But if you're going to change the title, wouldn't it be better to change it all the way through? "Beach Night" appeared everywhere, the TOC, title page, and the top of every page. And the cover only changed on Amazon. When you open the book to the cover on Kindle, the original cover and title come up.

Loved it!
Beach Night wasn't really for me, but you might like it if you're looking for a light read with some romance and suspense.
This story is okay, but it seems rushed and awkward at times and lacking in depth. For me, character development is really important. When I feel the connection with the characters I become really invested in the story. Chris and Dillon didn't really have enough depth or personality for me to feel that connection to them.
Overall, there were some interesting elements in the story, but it wasn't very engaging. It was a bit of a struggle to get through. It might have been better if it was fleshed out more

This was a really intriguing short story.
From the moment Chris seen Dillion on the monitor overlooking the casino he worked security in, he knew that something was different about him. Not just different but possibly dangerous. Regardless Chris found himself seeking out Dillion and wanting to not only get to know him better but to also save him from the dangerous situation that Dillion was in. And so it began, Chris through himself full on into the situation to try and save Dillion. But what happens when the tables are turned and suddenly Chris finds himself in a situation that might take not only Dillion's life but his own.
This book was full of mystery. I found myself questioning who Dillion was and whether he was in the situation he is in because of bad circumstances or because he is truly a bad guy. I also found myself concerned about Chris and Dillion's safety. As I said this was a wonderful read and full of mystery and intrigue. I really enjoyed it!!!!

Parker Avrile’s Beach Night was a fast paced novella with a thrilling story line. I really loved this world she built for us and the characters she created. There was a bit of mystery, and bit of suspense, and not to forget two hot guys who fall hard for each other.
Chris is an amazing character that Parker Avrile was able to make me adore within the space of 75 pages! Magic really. Chris has so much potential when it comes to his career. Security for a riverboat casino (who knew they existed?) he really could have gone farther but seemed content in the beginning to just stay where he was. Then he met Dillon and his thoughts shifted. There was a few times though that I felt he was too forgiving for some of the stuff that Dillon was doing and I wanted to smack him a bit for being such a pushover.
Dillon was charismatic and kind of a douche in the beginning. I felt like his character stretched a bit when it came to building him up. I would have liked a bit more details on him and build up in the story as a whole.
The world building was fantastic but I felt like a lot more could have been added to kinda draw out the relationship between the two. Also, Chris was way too forgiving for my taste. Lied to? Sure no problem, I forgive you. Called a rent-a-cop and other derogatory hits to his job? No problem, I’ll pout about it for a bit and then try and save you anyway. Honestly, it was still a great read and earned a 4.5 stars from me. If you are a fan of Parker’s like I am then you’ll love this novella. I adore anything Parker Avrile!

This book is a great read! I loved it, it had hot chemistry mystery, suspense. It's all there. Great book to have!
For as short a story as this was, I thought that it felt very much like a complete tale, and not just a vignette. I liked that there was a developed plot, with a twist. I also liked that there was character development for Chris as he contemplated doing what was right.
